What you learn in O Level Physics 5054
Who it is for
Students sitting Cambridge O Level Physics 5054 in the 2026, 2027 or 2028 series, including private candidates studying without a school, and retakers who understand the physics but keep losing marks in how they answer.
It is pitched for someone already past the basics.
What you will be able to do
By the end you should be able to:
- Take, record and process measurements to the precision Papers 3 and 4 award marks for
- Solve motion, force and momentum problems with the working an examiner can award method marks to
- Apply energy, work, power, density and pressure relationships to unfamiliar situations
- Explain thermal behaviour in terms of the kinetic particle model rather than by describing it
- Construct ray diagrams and wave calculations that survive a mark-scheme check
- Analyse series, parallel and electromagnetic circuits, including transformer and motor questions
- Complete nuclear decay and half-life calculations, and describe the Solar System to syllabus scope
- Answer to the command word given — state, describe, explain and calculate score differently
Those are the outcomes the course is assessed against, not a summary of the lessons — passing means demonstrating them, not attending.
How long it takes, and how it ends
About 130 hours of work, at whatever pace suits you. It finishes with a proctored examination and a project.
What you need first
Nothing. This one starts from the beginning.
The certificate
Every pass is issued a certificate carrying a code anyone can check against our public registry. Whoever you show it to — an employer, a university, a client — can confirm it is genuine, who it belongs to and when it was issued, without taking your word for it.
